There is an effort in Manitoba to create a Silver Alert System

It would be similar to the Amber Alert program, but instead of trying to locate a missing child, it would notify the public about a missing elderly person, someone with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism or Down Syndrome.

A motion put forward by Manitoba Member of the Legislature, Len Isleifson, calls for a change to the province’s Missing Persons Act.

Currently there is no such official program in Canada, but there is a citizen’s Silver Alert system in British Columbia.

The program monitors police information and issues alerts to its subscribers to watch for vulnerable missing people.
