Two explosions in Egypt have killed dozens of people at Christian churches in two cities Tanta and Alexandria. The bombings come as Egypt’s Coptic Christians celebrated the start of Holy Week.
The Islamic State group is claiming responsibility for the attacks. Pope Francis is decrying the attacks and shared his condolences with Pope Tawadros II, the Coptic church and all Egyptians.many Egyptians are blaming authorities for failing to prevent the violence. The Islamic State claimed an attack on a Cairo church in December that killed around 30 people, and vowed more attacks on Christians.
