A candidate in France’s election appears to have been the victim of a hacking.
An investigation is underway into the hacking and document leak in the campaign of Emmanuel Macron, considered to be the favourite heading into tomorrow’s runoff vote against Marine Le Pen, the far right candidate.
Macron’s campaign calls it a “massive and co-ordinated” hacking attack. They say the leak included both authentic and fake documents.
Because some are fake, the media is being urged by the election watchdog not to publish any of them.
Voting in the election began Saturday (May 6) in France’s overseas territories, and will continue Sunday in France itself.
