The tentative deal was reached earlier Thursday morning after 24 hours of negotiations with a mediator. The unionized workers went on strike May 11 to defend contract language they say assures quality care for the five thousand animals at the zoo. The dispute also revolved around job security. Details won`t be released until members vote on the deal this weekend. CUPE represents 400 zoo employees. The zoo board will likely meet early next week to vote on the tentative agreement and the zoo will reopen up to 96 hours after that vote.
