A well known name in Ontario law enforcenment has joined with another former lawman to launch a business aimed at helping medicinal marijuana users.

Julian Fantino, the former Toronto Police Chief, OPP Chief and one-time Harper government cabinet minister has partnered up with Raf Souccar, a former RCMP undercover drug officer who went on the become the force’s deputy commissioner.

Their new business, called Aleafia, will not be dispensing cannabis, but will be creating complete treatment plans for those who will be using medicinal marijuana, and gets them together with licensed growers.

Eventually patients will also be able to take advantage of doctors, nurses, chiropractors and osteopaths brought in by the new Vaughan-based business.

Fantino, who once said Prime Minister Trudeau’s plans to decriminalize marijuana would put it into the hands of schoolchildren, is Aleafia’s executive chairman, and Mr. Souccar is the president and chief executive officer.
