Sources say that investigators believe Las Vegas mass killer Stephen Paddock had a severe mental illness, which was likely undiagnosed. They describe Paddock as having traits of past mass shooters – standoffish, disconnected and anti-social. It’s also being reported a note found on Paddock’s night stand in the Mandalay Bay hotel contained written calculations about where he needed to aim to maximize accuracy and kill as many as possible. Despite following one-thousand leads, police haven’t determined a motive for last Sunday’s shooting that killed 58 people, including four Canadians. Vice-President Mike Pence says Americans have found hope in those who risked their lives after the Las Vegas shooting. Pence spoke Saturday afternoon at a prayer service in Las Vegas honouring victims. Pence says those killed were taken before their time. Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the victims and the late rock superstar Tom Petty by opening its show with country star Jason Aldean singing Petty’s song “I won’t back down.” Aldean was performing at the outdoor concert in Las Vegas last Sunday.
