A ripple effect from the sex scandal in Hollywood is hitting home in this country. Sexual assault allegations involving two major stars in Quebec’s entertainment industry have surfaced. Nine women are alleging sexual harassment and sexual assault by the former head of the Just For Laughs comedy festival, Gilbert Rozon. Some of the accusers say they were just teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents. Rozon did not elaborate on the claims when he announced on Facebook Wednesday that he was stepping down from all of his professional posts. The claims published by Le Devoir and radio station 98.5 FM span three decades, with the most recent in 2016. There are also allegations against Quebec radio and T-V personality Eric Salvail. Even the Prime Minister has commented on the allegations saying there has been “an awakening” over the issue of sexual harassment, adding it’s about time that the issue is being taken seriously.
