Awareness is greatly needed as pancreatic is the only major cancer with survival rates still in the single digits. As many of our listeners know, Zoomer Vice-President of News and Information Libby Znaimer is one of the few lucky survivors – 9 years later. Experts have been examining her case in hopes of finding an explanation for Libby’s good fortune. Her doctor, renowned pancreatic cancer surgeon, Dr. Steven Gallinger says while there is reason for optimism, there is a lack of basic scientific understanding of the disease combined with poor access to new drugs. Libby’s documentary called ”Cancer Saved My Life” has been updated and expanded. You can see it Tuesday night, November 14th, at 9 p.m. on our sister station Vision TV.
