New Year’s Eve is just days away and for many, plans include champagne or other cocktails to ring in 2018. But with non-alcoholic drinks gaining in popularity, you may see more party-goers reaching for the “virgin variety.” Hill Street Beverage CEO Terry Donnelly launched a line of non-alcoholic wine and beer in partnership with MADD Canada and told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer that demand is high. Andrew Murie of MADD Canada says the so-called mock-tails, or alcohol free cocktails, are huge in Europe and gaining favour in Canada.10 percent of sales from Hill Street Beverage go toward MADD Canada’s efforts to reduce impaired driving.
