Some terrifying moments for passengers on a Westjet flight at Toronto’s Pearson airport Friday night. Their plane was sitting on the tarmac at Pearson when it was hit by an empty Sunwing plane being towed away from the gate. The 168 passengers and six crew on the Westjet flight had to evacuate via emergency slides into the freezing night air. Airport spokesperson Beverly MacDonald says a fire on the empty Sunwing jet was extinguished and that no passengers or crew were hurt but one airport employee was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. The Transportation Safety Board is now investigating yesterday’s incident on the coldest January 5th in Toronto.
