The 2018 Winter Games have ended with a spectacular closing ceremony in Pyeonchang, South Korea, but not before Canadian athletes set a record.

They won 29 medals: 11 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze. Canada’s previous record was 26, set in the 2010 Vancouver Games.

That was good enough to finish third in overall standings behind Norway and Germany.

Tricia Smith, the Canadian Olympic Committee President says Canada is now proudly in the top group of countries, growing in strength and contending to be number one.
