The Fire Marshall is today investigating the cause of a massive fire at a Streetsville retirement residence under construction.

Friday night’s fire forced the evacuation of nearby residents as crews battled flames that lit up the sky and gutted the 4-storey building and triggered a number of explosions. Fire Chief Tim Beckett says it’s too early to say what caused the blaze and residents still without power Saturday morning, will have full power by the evening. Displaced residents were bused to a plaza while fire crews battled flames. Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie tweeted..” Thank you to @firechieftim Beckett & @MississaugaFES for containing the fire at Tannery & Joymar in Streetsville, Missisauga. Thankfully no lives were lost & the seniors are safely back home. Crews continue to monitor the area. Please stay off nearby roads.
