66-year-old Eddie Williams celebrated St. Patrick’s Day the same way he has every year since 1977. The Zoomer named “Steady Eddie” by friends, has made the eight-hour walk from Toronto to Oakville with a group in celebration of St. Patricks Day for 41 years. He says he makes the 42 kilometre trek for Canadians who are unable to do it and to bring people together. Williams’ Irish ancestors came to Toronto in the 18th century, and one of his walking members is also “partly” of Irish blood. The Toronto to Oakville walk tradition started in the 1920’s.
