If you don’t need to travel this weekend, don’t! The G-T-A and most of Southern Ontario is under several weather warnings, including a freezing rain warning.
Two rounds of freezing rain moves into the GTA and much of Southern Ontario this weekend beginning Saturday morning. In Toronto, 65 salt trucks are ready, far less than during winter months. Utility companies are warning people to brace for power outages as high winds combined with freezing rain can bring down tree branches and power lines. Ice buildup of 10 to 20 millimetres is likely across the region by Sunday morning, although areas close to Lake Ontario are expected to be less affected. Air travellers are being told to expect delays and treacherous driving conditions are expected on untreated roads today and tomorrow. The worst is expected Sunday morning.
