We’re at the half way mark. But Sunday’s weather is expected to be worse than Saturday.
Toronto and most of Southern Ontario is experiencing second round of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and rain. Police reported well over 500 crashes on icy roads Saturday around the GTA and Sunday morning, responded to minor fender benders. You’re advised to avoid travel if possible. The sloppy weather is expected to continue until Sunday afternoon, when temperatures are expected to rise. Hydro One says 15,000 customers in southwestern Ontario lost power Saturday. If you see a downed line, stay 10 metres back and call police or hydro one.Toronto’s Pearson Airport advises passengers to check their flight status before leaving, with more than 250 flights cancelled by Saturday evening. The Toronto Conservation Authority is warning of potential flooding by Sunday night. GO transit is reporting some cancellations to and the TTC is replacing some routes with shuttle buses. In a rare move, the Toronto Zoo has closed its doors Sunday. Post secondary schools also closed down this weekend due to inclement weather.
