In light of a new poll indicating it’s a horse race in the Ontario election campaign, PC Leader Doug Ford is ramping up his attack on his closest competitor. At a campaign stop in Pickering Tuesday, the PC leader accused the NDP of running radical candidates, including one who refuses to wear a poppy to honour war vets.
Ford also criticized Andrea Horwath’s party for its decision to scrap the Pickering Nuclear Plant saying it will put 7,500 people out of work. Ford says the plant can continue to operate until 2024. Meantime the NDP leader announced a 57 million dollar commitment to creating new opportunities in skilled trades. She was again pressed to explain her party’s 1.4 billion dollar accounting mistake. Horwath told reporters she’s proud that an NDP government would acknowledge a mistake rather than challenge the issue.
