The city of Toronto is revamping it’s noise bylaw for the first time in 17 years. Experts agree that street noise is the biggest offender in this city. Five public meetings are planned to get feedback from the public and staff will report back to council in the spring. Research shows chronic exposure to excessive noise levels has been linked to higher risk of heart disease. It’s an issue that resonates with Zoomer Media founder Moses Znaimer whose anti-noise campaign applauds restaurants that prioritize conversation over loud music.
