MORE FALL OUT FROM S-N-C LAVALIN CONTROVERSY

The dominoes continue to fall from the S-N-C Lavalin scandal.  Treasury Board President Jane Philpott is resigning from the federal cabinet. In an open letter addressed to the Prime Minister,  the MP for Markham-Stouffville says  she’s lost confidence in how the government has dealt with the S-N-C issue. Philpott is good friends with Jody Wilson-Raybould, who delivered bombshell testimony last week accusing officials of relentlessly pressuring her and even issuing veiled threats to try to get her to co-operate. Philpott says she has serious concerns about evidence of inappropriate interference in the attorney general’s discretion in criminal cases. the Prime Minister named Philpott to Treasury Board in mid-January, after Scott Brison left the post and retired from politics.
As for the future of Wilson Raybould , the Prime Minister says he needs more time to decide her political fate.The Prime Minister is expected at an event in Toronto at Danforth Hall Monday night,  and no doubt he’ll be asked about today’s news. Both former cabinet ministers say they plan to continue serving as MP’s
