The federal Liberals have taken a hit, but they haven’t been knocked out according to the President and CEO of Mainstreet Research Quito Maggi.

The latest poll results show that while the Conservative Party of Canada has pulled into the lead nationally, the Liberal Party still has strongholds in key regions.

The poll conducted between March 19th and the 25th shows that the Conservatives now have 37.4% support, while the Liberals have 35%.  The New Democrats sit with 11.6% of the vote.

Although Andrew Scheer’s Tories have posted gains in every region the Liberals led by Justin Trudeau still have the lead in Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

The head of Mainstreet research says it’s obvious the SNC Lavalin controversy has stung the Liberals the question is whether more damage will be done because of it.

The poll also asked whether there should be a change in federal government and 63.5% of respondents said yes.
