It’s being praised as the pinnacle of culinary creativity and panned as an example of wealthy excess. Dinner with a View is a pop up restaurant that’s gone viral on the Internet and sparked anti poverty protests.

The latest foodie phenomenon proves the adage location location location. It’s in The Bentway, the park space beneath the Gardiner. Patrons sit inside heated clear domes transformed into mini terrariums with a view of Toronto’s night skyline. According to celebrity chef René Rodriguez, the menu is very Canadian and features Ontario pickerel and Alberta beef. The Cordon Bleu-trained winner of Top Chef Canada, says feeding 500 people a day makes this 30-day pop up his largest event ever. It’s become an internet sensation and it’s almost sold out despite the cost: $150 to rent the dome that holds up to 6 people plus $99 dollars per person. Event Organizer Steve Georgiev says the restaurant business in Toronto is booming and this pop up gives diners a unique experience. Dinner with a View runs until May 2nd. For more visit
