A limited selection of next-generation cannabis products such as edibles will hit retail shelves before Christmas. Health Canada has released its final regulations on the pot products, dictating rules on packaging and on how much T-H-C will be allowed. All packaging must be plain and child resistant, and must not be appealing to young people. The rules will come into force in mid-October, but products won’t appear on store shelves until mid-December. That’s because after the law takes effect, federal cannabis licence holders must give 60 days notice to Health Canada of their intent to sell the new products.
