More than a dozen organizations are warning that American demand for cheaper Canadian drugs is threatening this country’s supply. In a letter to the federal health minister, they claim Canada’s medicine supply simply cannot support consumers on both sides of the border and it could lead to shortages. Americans pay far more for their drugs than Canadians do and as a result, several states have passed laws allowing their residents to buy drugs from Canada. Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders planned to visit Canada this weekend with a group of diabetics to buy insulin.
