Actor Richard Gere pitched in to help Libyan refugees aboard a humanitarian boat off the coasts of Italy and Malta.The 69-year-old helped bring food and supplies aboard the ship, which has been floating in international waters for more than a week while European Union countries negotiate where the refugees will go.
Gere says wherever they end up, the refugees are better off than in their war-torn home countries. The actor has a long history of human-rights activism. He’s been banned from China for advocating for human rights in Tibet.
