One of the most anticipated exhibitions and a Canadian first is coming to the Art Gallery of Ontario. A major Pablo Picasso exhibition focusing on the painter’s famous blue period includes about 65 pieces as well as a selection of works by other artists he would have known and studies.
The gallery says next summer’s exhibition includes major loans from private collections and public institutions in North America, Europe, Japan and Israel. The period includes the years between 1901 and 1904 when Picasso created largely monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green. It’s set to run next June 27th to September 20th.
