Families will be allowed to visit loved ones in long term care homes and other congregate settings June 18th, just in time for Father’s Day. Long term care minister Merrilee Fullerton says limited visits will be allowed at facilities not in outbreak, with strict safety measures. “For long term care homes, we’re allowing one visitor per resident at a minimum of one visit per week for an outdoor visit only,” Minister Fullerton told reporters. “Retirement homes will have outdoor and indoor visits with the number of visits being left to the discretion of the home.” She also says visitors must test negative for COVID-19 within two weeks of visiting and pass a screening questionnaire. Premier Ford says everyone has to be ‘super’ careful when visits begin. “At the end of the day, it’s going to be the homes that calls the shots and if they don’t feel comfortable, cooperate with the homes.”
