Education Minister Stephen Lecce is set to announce back to school plans Thursday. Premier Doug Ford admits everyone is a bit nervous when it comes to kids and COVID-19. But he’s going with what the health experts recommend.
“There’s going to be 2 million kids going back to class and 140,000 teachers and that’s concerning,” Ford told reporters at his daily pandemic briefing.
“And what’s even more concerning is if the kids have COVID and they bring it home to their parents or their grandparents.”
Toronto’s SickKids hospital has updated its recommendations for a safe return to school full-time, including guidelines that say mandatory masks for students is complicated.
Ford says it’s going to be a tough challenge when dealing with these numbers of students.
