More than 25 people were killed and over 2,500 were injured in a huge explosion that rocked Beirut according to Lebanon’s health minister. The blast flattened much of the the city’s port, damaging buildings. The cause was not immediately known but an Israeli government official says Israel had nothing to do with it. The blast could be heard and felt as far away as Cyprus, 200 kilometres across the Mediterranean. Hours after the blast, ambulances were still carrying away the wounded and officials say Beirut’s hospitals are full.
