Doug Ford and Francois Legault have agreed to a yearly face-to-face summit.
The Ontario and Quebec premiers have wrapped up their two-day summit in Toronto agreeing their shared priority is to get more health care funding from Ottawa. But Legault won’t attach a dollar figure.
“We first need to talk to the other Premiers, it’s a question of respect, it’s a question of also agreeing together of what we will ask the federal government but don’t worry, we’ll put a figure on the table very shortly,” Legault told reporters.
Legault says he and Ford are “closer than ever” joking Ford may even become a fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
During their joint news conference, Ford says Ontario will be reporting COVID-19 outbreaks in schools, similar to long-term care.
When asked if Ontario will close bars and restaurants like they did in B-C after a jump in COVID-19 cases, Ford says he’ll continue to take advice from health experts but adds that Mayors can shut down bars if they want to.
