This year’s popular Christmas Market in the Distillery District has been cancelled this year.

Mayor John Tory calls it extremely regrettable.
“Because these are things that bring people joy and get them outside even in the colder weather but a lot of things have changed this year,” Tory told reporters.
Meantime, Tory says it’s time to bring the hammer down on rule breakers when it comes to the spread of COVID-19 saying compliance through education is over.
Incident commander Matthew Pegg says the city received 21 gathering complaints on the weekend but no enforcement was taken because they dispersed by the time law enforcement arrived. But he says they are stepping up enforcement.
“Our strategy is strategy is straight forward, we will enforce provincial regulations in an effort to arrest the spread of COVID-19,” said Pegg.
Toronto Medical Official of Health Dr. Eileen DeVilla says life has changed and all of us have to act like it.
There have been 453 new infections in Toronto since Friday.
