We’ve learned how many doses of COVID-19 vaccine Canada will receive and when.

But this information has not come from the governing federal Liberals nor the provincial Progressive Conservatives.

In an exclusive on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, one of the co-chairs of Canada’s COVID-19 vaccine task force revealed we can expect to receive 6-million doses in the first quarter of 2021, which is enough to inoculate 3-million Canadians since two doses per person are required.

Mark Lievonen also explained there will also be vaccines delivered, if all goes well, in the second quarter, the third quarter and the fourth quarter.

As to why there won’t there be more doses of the COVID 19 vaccine initially, Lievonen said, “They’re made in the U.S. or made in Europe. The companies are not going to want to ship them to countries like Canada or Australia or anything else at risk, because of it never gets licensed they would just have to dispose of them. They need to keep them in their own country so they can have control of them so they can’t actually send them to the countries where the vaccines get licensed.”

During Monday’s federal fall economic update, the finance minister did not provide a timeline on vaccine delivery. But Chrystia Freeland did outline the cost and ultimate number of doses we should receive.

“The government has invested more than 1-billion dollars in vaccine agreements, securing a domestic supply of up to 429-million doses of seven promising vaccines, more than 10 doses for every Canadian,” Freeland announced.

This is not enough information for Ontario’s premier.

Doug Ford told reporters Monday he has not been receiving any answers from the federal government, so he’s started calling the drug makers himself.

Ford says he spoke with representatives at Pfizer and Astra Zeneca on Monday and has a call set with Moderna and others early next week.

The premier and the head of Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine task force, retired General Rick Hillier, will be in Brampton for a 1pm announcement on Tuesday.
