Regulators gave their approval to the inoculation by Oxford and AstraZeneca.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock says they have 100 million doses on order of this vaccine. Combined with an ordered 30-million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, that means they’ll receive enough for two doses for the entire British population.
“With this approval this morning, I’m highly confident that we can get enough vulnerable people by the spring, that we can now see our route out of this pandemic,” said Hancock.
Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, which must be stored in extreme cold, the AstraZeneca shot can be kept in a normal refrigerator.
Canadian regulators are still studying the vaccine’s data ahead of making their own decision.
