While the Ford government plans to vaccinate all long-term care residents, staff and essential caregivers in the COVID-19 hot spots of Toronto, Peel, York and Windsor by January 21, the Official Opposition worries about those in facilities outside those regions.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is concerned for the seniors in the 138 homes in outbreak outside hot spots.
”If I were the premier today, I’d be pulling out all the stops to rush doses into long-term care homes,” says Horwarth.
Currently, there are a record high 220 homes in outbreak – four more than the day before.
Ontario’s also reporting another 47 resident deaths as well as 2 more of staff members.
There are 1,180 residents who are infected – 83 more than the previous day, while 1,162 staff members are infected – an increase of 61.
The province says it’s administered 10,350 more doses for a total of 60,380.
