Justin Trudeau says the head of Pfizer has personally promised the company will send doses of its COVID-19 vaccine next month.
After learning Canada would not get any doses next week as Pfizer delays some deliveries to upgrade production at its Belgian plant, the prime minister spoke with CEO Dr. Albert Bourla in what’s believed to be Trudeau’s first intervention.
”The next few weeks will be challenging when it comes to deliveries,” says the prime minister.
”That said, Dr. Bourla assured me that hundreds of thousands of Pfizer doses will be delivered the week of February 15 and in the weeks to follow.”
Despite the pause in deliveries until then, Trudeau says he was assured Canada will get all of its promised 4-million doses before the end of March.
Meanwhile, the prime minister says Canada will also receive almost 500,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine next month.
