Messages of support are coming in for Captain Sir Tom Moore, the 100-year-old World War II veteran who captivated the British public with his pandemic fund raising efforts.  He’s been hospitalized in England with COVID-19.

Sir Tom’s daughter says her father needed additional help with his breathing, adding he was already being treated for pneumonia when he tested COVID positive last week.

Sir Tom became an inspiration in the early weeks of the pandemic when he raised m ore than $57 CAD walking 100 laps around his garden, delivering messages of hope and recording a special version of “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

Moore, who rose to the rank of captain while serving in India and Burma during World War II, was knighted by the Queen this past July.

Among those sending best wishes is British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who said in a tweet that Moore had inspired the whole nation and the nation is now wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
