Criteria for hotels wishing to take part in the mandatory three-day quarantine for returning international travellers has been posted online by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
The conditions move the Trudeau government a step closer to following through on its recent promise that anyone returning from non-essential trips abroad must self-isolate in a federally mandated facility for up to 72-hours at their own expense.
While the government has not said when this will officially come into effect, it’s believed to be just days away as hotel submissions are due on Wednesday.
To qualify as a ”listed hotel,” accommodations must be close to one of the four airports currently accepting international flights; Pearson in Toronto, as well as airports in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
They must also provide contactless meal delivery to rooms, free WiFi, set up a process for brief outdoor breaks and report daily check-in and checkout numbers to the public health agency.
