Currently, there are less than 33,000 active cases of COVID-19 across Canada; down 60% from a month ago.
However, the latest federal projections suggest, the country could see 20-thousand new cases daily by the middle of March, if provinces and territories ease public health restrictions.
”So we have to keep taking strong public health measures,” warns Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
”Remember even with vaccines, we need to do everything we can to protect vulnerable populations like our seniors in long-term care.
Otherwise we could see a third wave that is even worse than the second or the first.”
Even with current restrictions, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, says projections suggest the spread of variants could push the country’s case count to more than 10,000 daily by April.
