The National Recording Registry has released its list of music to be added this year and the highlights include the first frog to be enshrined in the U.S. Library of Congress.
Sesame Street’s Kermit the Frog says he’s thrilled to have “The Rainbow Collection,” on the list.
Among the singles are the 1980 hit “Celebrate,” by Kool and the Gang, “Lady Marmalade,” by Labelle and “When the Saints Go Marching In,” by Louis Armstrong.
Albums to be preserved include Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation 1814,” and Jackson Browne’s “Late for the Sky.”
The U.S. Library of Congress preserves a group of recordings for their historical or cultural significance every year.
