Toronto is following Peel’s lead in closing all public school to in-person learning starting Wednesday, April 7th. Toronto Public Health says the closure will last until at least April 18 when the spring break ends.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa says new variants have increased the risk of serious illness and death and strong measures are needed.
Peel Region schools moved online Tuesday, April 6th. A handful of public health units across the province have also closed down schools to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Ontario government has said schools should remain open as they’re important to the students’ mental health.
