The province has reached a record-high 4,736 new cases of COVID-19, and a third-wave high of 29 more deaths with the number hospitalized climbing to over 1,900.
Of those, 659 are in intensive care, another new high, as another 64 were admitted only yesterday.
Breaking down the latest daily case count, Toronto continues to lead with 1,188, Peel Region has 983 and there are 526 in York.
Provincial officials continue pointing to inconsistent deliveries from Moderna as a major reason for the current pace of Ontario’s inoculation campaign.
Instead of next week, the province says Ottawa won’t get the next shipment from Moderna until May 3 at the earliest.
The province can vaccinate up to 150,000 per-day but is currently averaging around 98,000.
The head of Canada’s vaccine rollout reports 12.7-million doses of vaccines have been distributed so far with the pace to pick up in coming weeks.
Major General Dany Fortin says a total of 17-million Pfizer doses are expected April through June, and 2.8 million from Moderna are to arrive throughout May.
