Despite receiving more than 100,000 complaints about its coverage of his death announcement, the BBC says its coverage of Saturday’s funeral for the Duke of Edinburgh. drew more than 11,000,000 people.
In all some 13,000,000 watched on various TV feeds in the UK and more than 7,000,000 took it in on radio and several YouTube channels.
In 2002, more than 10,000,000 watched the funeral of The Queen Mother.
In 1997, the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, was watched by 31,000,000 people, setting the modern record.
