Indonesia’s navy says items have been found from a missing submarine, indicating the vessel with 53 crew members has sunk with no survivors.

Military chief Hadi Tjahjanto told a news conference in Bali that the presence of an oil slick as well as the discovery of the items near the location of KRI Nanggala 402’s last dive on Wednesday off the resort island of Bali were clear proof it has sank.

Indonesia had earlier considered the vessel as just missing.

Navy Chief Yudo Margono said the items included parts of a torpedo straightener, a grease bottle believed to be used to oil the periscope and debris from prayer rugs.

Officials said the oxygen supply would have run out early Saturday.
