With Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine deliveries increasing to 2-million doses arriving each week through the month of May in Canada, vaccine eligibility widens.
Starting at 8 o’clock Monday morning, anyone 18 and over, who lives in one of the 114 designated COVID hot spots may book a vaccine appointment through the Ontario portal at ontario.ca/book vaccine or by calling the hotline at 1-888-999-6488.
The appointments will be available for the weeks of May 3rd and May 10th, all part of a strategy to allocate 50 percent of vaccine doses to hot spots, up from the current share of 25 percent.
Last month, the province’s science advisors recommended this move in order to bring down record high numbers of COVID cases and hospitalizations.
As of Sunday, there were 2000 COVID patients being treated in Ontario hospitals, 895 of them are in intensive care, with more than 600 of those patients on ventilators.
