The minister of long-term care says the provincial government was doing all it could but it was not enough.
That was the gist of Merrilee Fullerton’s response to the Long-Term Care Commissions report that found the sector was not prepared for a pandemic, and that the government’s response was slow when COVID-19 hit.

”We were trying to move fast for government,” explained Fullerton.
”And COVID-19 was moving faster.”
In a statement Opposition Leader Andrea Horwath said Fullerton should either resign or be replaced.
”She let people die, rather than speak out or take action” the statement read.
The Zoomers’ advocacy group CARP has been calling for the firing of Fullerton for months in an online petition that now has more than 7,500 signatures.
