65 MPs across five parties have written a letter urging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to back the push to support the waiting of global rules guarding vaccine trade secrets.
The proposal gaining wide support would make it easier to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines and facilitate vaccine production and distribution in poorer countries.
Conservative Party leader Erin O’Toole told the media Friday his party supports the push to suspend patents on COVID-19 vaccines.
On Thursday, Trade Minister Mary Ng said Canada will take part in global talks on the matter.
