This week will be Toronto’s biggest vaccine roll out to date. Mayor Tory says the target is to vaccinate 65 percent of all adults with first dose by the end of the month. As of Monday, more than 50 percent of Toronto adults are vaccinated. Toronto public health says since the April 3rd emergency brake, there’s been a 43 percent reduction in COVID transmission.

Meantime, the GTHA Mayors and Chairs are asking the province to provide clarity soon on whether the current stay at home order will be extended.

Mayor John Tory says he’ll have more to say on the current talks underway in the days ahead.

“As the Victoria Day long weekend approaches, people and businesses have begun to ask perfectly reasonable questions as to where things will stand as of that time so they can make plans of all kinds whether it be business plans or personal plans,” said Mayor Tory. “We think it’s important the Ontario government communicate clearly and as soon as possible whether its order will be extended further or modified based on public health advice.”
