Four days after the leader of Canada’s vaccine rollout stepped aside, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he learned weeks ago that Major-General Dany Fortin was under investigation.
”However because, as is appropriate, I didn’t receive details of what is being alleged and what’s going on in terms of the investigation,” Trudeau says.
Fortin is reportedly being investigated for a sexual misconduct allegation dating back 32 years.
”It would be inappropriate for me to comment on that investigation,” the prime minister adds.
Fortin’s lawyer says his client found out about the accusation Sunday and categorically denies any wrongdoing.
Brigadier-General Krista Brodie is now in charge of the national vaccination program.
