Princes William and Harry pulled no punches when talking about the media treatment of his mother, the late Princess Diana.
This came in response to the results of an investigation that found then BBC journalist Martin Bashir used deceitful behaviour in landing an explosive interview with Diana in 1995.
“The interview was a major contribution to making my parents’ relationship worse and has since hurt countless others,” said the Duke of Sussex. “It brings indescribable sadness to know the BBC’s failures contributed significantly to her fear, paranoia and isolation.”
The investigation found Bashir used false documents and deceitful tactics to persuade Diana into the interview.
Prince Harry released a scathing statement saying a “ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices” can be blamed for his mother’s death.
Harry added these sorts of practices by the British media are still widespread today with responsibility not lying with one outlet alone.
