A City of Toronto staff report recommends a terms-of-reference agreement with the province on the redevelopment of Ontario Place.
The proposed terms, which go before the city’s executive committee June 1, set out a framework for cooperation, coordination and engagement between City Hall and Queen’s Park during the revitalization.
After opening in 1971, Ontario Place has been closed since 2012 as attendance at the once popular theme-park had fallen from 2.5-million to only 300,000.
Five years later, Trillium Park was opened at Ontario Place, connected by the William G. Davis trail, named after the premier the year Ontario Place opened.
The Ford government has said redevelopment will not include a casino or condos.
The mainland, east and west islands, the pod complex and Cinesphere cinema are open for development.
The marinas can be reconfigured or relocated, but a marina must be maintained somewhere on site.
The Budweiser Stage is not subject to redevelopment and the government has said it intends to keep three-hectares of park land.
