Yesterday we learned that Mirvish Productions is planning to bring live theatre back to Toronto as of August 4th. Not to be out done, Broadway’s return has now been bumped up a month, to August 4th as well, with a production of “Pass Over.”
“Pass Over” revolves around two young Black men and takes inspiration from “Waiting for Godot” and the killing of Trayvon Martin.
It’ll play the August Wilson Theatre a month before “Hadestown” is set to begin performances September 2nd. Other Broadway shows will reopen September 14th.
Mirvish plans to reopen live theatre in Toronto with a production of “Blindness” at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
At the Toronto show, audiences will be limited to 50 people per performance and will be seated in pods of one or two. Everyone in attendance, including all staff, will be masked.
Tickets go on sale June 23rd.
