There is new information from the Ontario government for residents who received AstraZeneca as their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Effective Friday June 4th, Ontarians who received a first dose of AstraZeneca may choose to either receive a second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine or an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) for their second dose.

The second dose options will be provided at the recommended 12 week interval.

As of June 4th, people who received the AZ shot first may contact the pharmacy or primary care provider where they received their first dose to book an appointment for their second dose of AstraZeneca 12 weeks after the first.

Starting Monday June 7th, individuals who received AstraZeneca first and choose to receive Pfizer or Moderna for their second dose may register for a second shot at a 12 week interval through the provincial booking system at ontario.ca/bookvaccine.
